Great curling demands great ice!

As a lifelong curler I can certainly appreciate a sheet of ice that is predictable and enjoyable to play on. As a newly minted “professional” curling ice technician, I know that producing such a sheet of ice is easier said than done!

Ice is an elemental force that can be exceptionally difficult to control, whether that be during the installation, for the duration of a bonspiel, or an entire curling season. With the curlers comes heat, humidity and debris, all of which pose a challenge to maintaining a clean and consistent ice surface.

It is with this respect and love of the sport that I have dedicated my efforts to developing a deeper understanding of the science involved where granite meets ice, while learning the art and best practices that are necessary to craft an ideal playing surface, in both appearance and performance!
